koru #69
My sister makes jewelry. Recently her friend Maggie Towne gifted her a whole bowl of beautiful Maggie's Bead Towne hand-blown glass beads. When I visited my sister today they were sitting on her dining room table in a crystal candy dish like a glimmering find-the-koru game. How many can you find? (Scroll down for a clearer if less artistic picture.) Santa Clara, CA.
I count eight in this one.

koru #67
Okay, this one is just crazy. My niece Maggie saw this amazing reflection of a koru on the side of a high-rise in Vancouver, CAN. Her mom Elizabeth snapped the picture. Love the deconstructed, almost cubist effect.

Vine tendril, Passiflora edulis, Brisbane, CA.
Metal paperweight belonging to my friend Myrta. Not only is it a gorgeous koru, it features one of my favorite quotes by Thoreau.

This guest koru comes from my friend Kim O'Neill. Not only does it have wrought iron spirals above the sign, the sign post is a koru. Taken at the Edible Schoolyard, Berkeley, CA.

koru #60
Two whole months and to celebrate the universe found me the coolest koru ever! Found this at the Santa Fe Flea Market this morning. Didn't get a date on it, but it's from Bali. Apparently it's the foot of a very ornate bed (turned upside-down for mounting purposes). The whole piece is about 14" tall not including the base and cost me $80. Totally worth it.
See below to better see the amazing carving and colors.

koru #59
Across a crowded restaurant, a small koru painting tucked behind a doll, Cafe Pasqual's, Santa Fe, NM.
Close-up.
The dish that distracted me from the koru: Blue Lady Enchiladas with red chile sauce. AMAZING.

koru #58
I actually made something! Okay, put something together, anyway, but it was still fun. Green turquoise donut, silver spiral charm, brown leather cord.
All pieces purchased from Beadweaver, Santa Fe, NM.
And just for fun, here's another cool, koru-rich jewelry possibility.
