koru #250

Wow, does my brother (and his fam) know how to pick a gift or what? I just received four yards of gorgeous koru fabric direct from their Tahitian vacation. Stunning.

Thank you Tone, Liz, and Maggie!

Note that the color in the second picture is the true color (uncorrupted by Hipstamatic).

koru #247

Today's koru: string on the edge of the bathtub (that's what happens when you wash new quilting fabric -- a gorgeous Frida Khalo print -- in the same load as the washcloths).

Okay, now that that's done, my numbers between this site and Facebook are still completely off. Apparently I had two number 243s. So, let's get this straight...

8/25 -- #246: book of yarn -- posted here as #245
8/24 -- #245: coral fractal posted here and on pinterest / Facebook as #244
8/23 -- #244: sea glass sea horse posted on pinterest / Facebook as #243
8/22 -- #243: koru tattoo posted here and on pinterest / Facebook 8/23
8/21 -- #242: pillow case -- posted here 8/23
8/20 -- #241: beans and amaranth -- posted here

So that resolves that (and will teach me not to post late when there is a koru in hand, even if I am out of town).

koru #244 and 245

I still haven't got caught up, though I did post this to Facebook via Pinterest, which I am counting as number 244. And here is number 245 which I took at the Border's close-out sale, though I will admit, I didn't actually buy the book (though now I'm kind of wishing I had). At any rate, it gets me nearly caught up. The good news: I have today's done as well. But figured it deserved its own post.

koru #243

I've been finding many of my best found korus online and adding them to my Pinterest account. To see todays visit my koru pinboard. I also posted it directly to facebook.

koru #242

Okay, so I'm a little behind in posting. This one I took on August 21.

Embroidered pillowcase detail.

koru #241

I'll be the first to admit, both of these are a stretch, but I'm tired and they're all I've got. I would, however, like to say for the record: I really need to figure out how to turn off shake-to-randomize.

Bean tendril.

koru #238

I have found the ultimate koru-gathering online tool for all those amazing little photo and craft finds that I just don't feel quite right about "borrowing" without asking. Chances are, some of you already know about it, but here it is anyway: my koru board on Pinterest. Already it houses 29 of some of the coolest korus around -- from cookies to crochet, from spiral staircases to spiderwebs. Including this stunner from moonfruitmuse.

I also have pinboards for artist trading cards, quilts, crafts, gardens, dream homes, and more. There's just nothing quite like having this kind of beauty in your life. Even if it is virtual. Hope to see you there.

koru #237

This absolutely stunning piece titled "Broken Fern frond and Wet Feathers" was made by Renee Bareno. Our mutual friend Jane sent it my way. Many thanks to both of them.

koru #230 and 231

Yes, it's true, I totally spaced posting yesterday's koru, so here it is. And today's, too. Starting with today's torn paper envelope koru.

And now, yesterday's koru sketch on page of Moleskine journal.

koru #229

Beautiful koru quilt from the book "Contemporary Hawaiian Quilts" by Linda Arthur, then a sketch for another quilt idea.

koru #226

Shattered Pyrex storage bowl -- my second broken glassware in two weeks. This one actually bounced when it hit the first time then shattered on the second hit. At least there was no bleeding. I'm starting to think maybe tile floors aren't the best for me...

koru #225

My first attempt at an Artist Trading Card-style art piece. Ink and crayon on index card (2.5 x 3.5").

Shopping korus (umbrella stand/coat rack, decorative bucket, and peacock feather - okay that last one's a bit of a stretch but it's still really cook.
