Last night my friend Andria sent me this koru. Her timing was uncanny as hundreds (perhaps thousands by this point) of acres of Northern New Mexico are currently burning. Across the northeastern part of the state the skies are choked with smoke and it is raining ash in Santa Fe. Although the cause of the newest fire which currently threatens the Los Alamos National Labs is still unknown, and dry thunderstorms are forecast for this afternoon, I can only echo Smokey's words: Only You Can Prevent Forest Fires. And yes, despite what I always thought about the desert, it is forests that are burning, tall ponderosa pines and pinon. Please pray for rain.
